Thiruverumbur Sri Erumbeeswarar Temple
This Shiva Temple is hill temple with a fight of granite steps. This temple has 2 prakarams and the entire temple and the mandpam at the foot of the hill are replete with inscriptions from the Chola and the Pandya period. The Devas fearing the demon Karan are said to have assumed the form of ants and have worshipped Shiva here. The Shiva lingam is said to have tilted forward to accept the worship. This temple is considered to be the 7th in the series of Tevara Stalams in the Chola kingdom located south of the river Cauvery.
